WAIHEKE LIBRARY
Bright Light recently completed a comprehensive LED lighting refurbishment for Waiheke Library, delivering a modern, efficient, and visually comfortable lighting solution throughout the space. The project focused on improving light quality, updating older technologies, and enhancing the library’s architectural character while ensuring seamless integration with existing structures. All fittings were supplied with DALI control.
For the main open areas, Bright Light supplied suspended ECHO linear luminaires in a white finish with warm white colour temperature using a low-glare prismatic diffuser for comfortable, uniform downlighting. The installation included various lengths up to 11 metres. For practical transport and handling, ECHO is supplied in shorter sections and then joined on-site to achieve a seamless finish.

To introduce architectural interest and visual impact, three Halo ring pendants were installed. These Ø900mm pendants, finished in white, provide a warm glow (3000K CCT), adding a striking design element to the children’s area.

In addition to new fixtures, Bright Light retrofitted existing recessed lighting with customised Element 80 luminaires. To ensure a clean installation and accommodate the original recessed cavities, the luminaires were manufactured locally with an additional trim to extend the width and fully cover the existing openings—allowing the library to upgrade to modern LED technology without altering the existing ceiling structure. A total of 34 fittings were produced in a white finish, each 1175 mm long.

This refurbishment delivers improved energy efficiency, enhanced lighting performance, and a refreshed aesthetic—supporting a welcoming, well-lit environment for library visitors and staff.
